Blogger comment: Pressing of the reset button for U.S.-Russian relations is long overdue. Still Eastern Europeans must be pissed that all of their efforts both domestically and internationally to move the missile defense shield forward might have been in vain.

I think the Obama Admin botched this one. They should know that everything gets leaked. They have now lost a huge bargaining chip with the Russians. Wasnt there a more naunced way to work the Iran angle with the Russians than a letter offering a quid pro quo?
ReplyDeleteToday Obama tried to defend this "secret letter" as a letter outlining potential areas for co-operation on mutual security issues.

I sent a secret letter to girl once in class. Things seemed to be working out ok until the teacher noticed and read it to the whole class. Luckily, I was outlining my disagreement with our withdrawal from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Defense Treaty.
